Nintendo Switch Emulator Gets Massive Performance Improvements in Latest Update

Yuzu is an experimental open-source Nintendo Switch emulator from the developers of the most reliable 3DS emulator: Citra. And much like Citra, Yuzu, too, is going through some truly fascinating development updates.

Nintendo Switch PC emulation is reaching unprecedented levels of reliability with the progress that these guys have been making, and one of the latest Yuzu builds has achieved 40-100% performance improvements across the board.

Yuzu Canary version 1814 is reportedly getting drastically improved framerates in just about every game available on the system. In the video featured below, you can see that an area of Super Mario: Odyssey that used to run at 20-25 FPS is now charging ahead at 40-55 FPS, which is a truly staggering improvement.

The machine running this build of Yuzu is, admittedly, rather beefy, with i7 8700k (5.0 Ghz), 16 GB of DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, and a GTX 1080ti, but the fact that we can already emulate Switch as well as we can is impressive, to say the least.

If you, too, would like to give yuzu a whirl and see how Switch runs on your own PC, the software is readily available on the official website, and there’s really nothing to lose by just giving it a shot. Let us know what results you get!
